American Institute for Stuttering

The American Institute for Stuttering has enlisted Newsmaker Group on a number of occasions. Initially, Newsmaker’s goal was to build awareness about the Institute’s treatment offerings, which was a tough sell to journalists since only three percent of the population stutters. Our approach was to showcase personal stories and how lives are turned around after proper treatment. Widespread media coverage was generated including the Today Show and the New York Times. The Institute received a 60% increase in inquiries as a result of our public relations efforts, necessitating increased staff and expanded space for treatment.

Subsequently, Newsmaker Group maximized opportunities, such as the Institute honoring celebrities at its annual gala, to secure key media placements. With the 2010 release of the Academy Award winning “The King’s Speech,” Newsmaker Group positioned the Institute’s executive director as an industry expert who could educate the public about stuttering, and continued to spotlight clients who have benefited from treatment. This effort generated media coverage in USA Today and multiple NYC-area TV and radio outlets.
